Aimee Robson

Aimee joined the Board of Trustees at YMCA Northumberland in November 2024 and serves as the Board’s Safeguarding Champion. Her connection to the YMCA movement, however, goes back much further.

Growing up in New England, Aimee learned to swim at the YMCA, played basketball and attended YMCA camps. Those early experiences gave her a lifelong connection to the movement and an appreciation of the role it can play in giving young people somewhere they feel safe, supported and able to grow.

Aimee has spent the past twenty years working across health and care, leading improvement and quality initiatives at local, regional and national level. A clinician, senior NHS leader and educator, she brings experience in strategy, governance, quality improvement and partnership working to YMCA Northumberland. She describes herself as people-centred and a strategic thinker, with a passion for learning, solving problems and supporting people to be their best selves.

Her approach to problem solving is to seek to understand first. As a Trustee, Aimee combines governance and rigour with creative problem solving and strategic thinking, drawing on her experience of leading change, improvement and partnerships throughout her career.

What attracted Aimee to YMCA Northumberland was the team and the ethos of the organisation. As Safeguarding Board Champion, she is particularly committed to helping ensure that children and young people have safe and supportive spaces where they can connect, develop and thrive.

Outside of her professional and Trustee roles, Aimee enjoys hillwalking with her family and dog, cycling, creative crafting, yoga and reading. She is also a keen pumpkin grower – something people might not immediately expect about her!

Aimee describes herself in three words as curious, energetic and kind. She is inspired by people who strive to make the world kinder, fairer and better, and hopes to bring that same spirit to her contribution at YMCA Northumberland.
