Outreach Work
Our outreach teams are out and about two nights a week in Ashington (supported by Ashington Town Council) meeting young people in parks, recreation areas, the town centre and other areas where they choose to spend their time. Our primary aim is to encourage young people to engage with centre-based services, by identifying gaps in provision where different activities may be of interest or where there are barriers to accessing services.
We also do outreach a further two nights per week as part of the Police & Crime Commissioner’s Safer Streets project. This project aims to help young people stay safe, and reduce anti-social behaviour, on public transport across Northumberland.
We occasionally run detached sessions, though these are needs-based and at the request of young people, creating safer spaces where young people choose to gather.
